About Your Therapist

Ryan graduated with a Masters degree in Counselor Education from the University of Central Florida.  As a graduate student, Ryan worked on a federal grant aimed at strengthening couple relationships and received training in couple and relationship counseling using techniques such as the PREPARE/ENRICH model of relationship education and a Brief/Integrative Therapy approach.  Ryan has also worked in community mental health  where he provided counseling to individuals with co-occurring substance abuse and other mental health disorders.  In addition to working with couples, families, and individuals in private practice, Ryan is an Assistant Director for the UCF Marriage and Family Research Institute's Together Project, which is part of a national demonstration on the implementation of marriage education programs for  families (www.ucfcounselored.org/families).

These combined experiences have provided a great opportunity for Ryan to develop specialties in the areas of behaviors of addiction as well as relationship counseling and education.

It is Ryan's goal to create a safe and secure environment for all clients. Research has taught us that a therapist's theory and approach is not as effective as the relationship established between the therapist and client.  Clients don't typically remember techniques and interventions, but they do remember whether or not they trusted their therapist and the relationship that was established.
